Street Smarts Advanced Obedience Canine Communication Level-1

K9 Leadership's Street Smarts Obedience Advanced Level 1 dog training class is a stepping-stone to the Level 2 training class. Advanced Level 1 is a less intense version of Level 2 course. It concentrates on using commands with higher levels of distractions present. Off-leash work and control begins in this class. Also an introduction to down at a distance, hand signals, come to heel and recall from distractions. Weather permitted, the classes are held outdoors at local parks or other public venues.

Note: Students must have passed their basic class with a score of 90 or more to proceed with this class. All dogs must have passed Advanced Level 1 with a score of 90 or more to proceed to Street Smarts Level 2.

Course Length is 5 weeks (excluding civic holidays), 5 classes that are 1.5 hours in length. The current class schedule is posted here

As with all our dog obedience and tracking classes, the focus of Streets Smarts Obedience Advanced Level 1 is on training students that the key obedience revolves around pack dynamics and canine leadership. Dogs follow direction because they have a competant leader who provides:

• safety;
• security; and,
• satisfaction of such needs as food, exercise and mental stimulations.

By providing this leadership the dog understands its position in the pack and respects its leader- ‘the human guardian’.

The dog follows the fair and consistent leadership of their human guardian without the need of bribery (treats) or threats (corporal punishment).
