Street Smarts Obedience Level 2

The K9 Leadership Street Smarts Obedience Level 2 is a continuation of the Level 1 dog obedience training course(s). Leadership is applied to improve a dog’s focus and confidence but in an outdoor environment. All but the first class is held outdoors in surrounding parks and trails.

Commands such as:

• stay-close (walking off leash within a certain distance from handler);
• heeling on the opposite side and behind handler;
• off leash heeling;
• recall from distractions;
• drop on recall;
• down in heel; and,
• come to heel are introduced in this class.

All dogs must pass the Level 2 test with a score of 90 or more to proceed to the next level.

Course length is 6 weeks (excluding civic holidays), 6 weekend classes that are 1.5 hours in length. The current class schedule is posted here

A maximum of 6 dogs per class
Cost is $185.00 plus gst.

As with all our dog obedience and tracking classes, the focus of Streets Smarts Obedience Level 2 is on training students that the key obedience revolves around pack dynamics and canine leadership. Dogs follow direction because they have a competant leader who provides:

• safety;
• security; and,
• satisfaction of such needs as food, exercise and mental stimulations.

By providing this leadership the dog understands its position in the pack and respects its leader- ‘the human guardian’.

The dog follows the fair and consistent leadership of their human guardian without the need of bribery (treats) or threats (corporal punishment).
