Trailing Classes: Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley

Sport trailing, also known as mantrailing, is a dog sport in which dogs follow a specific person’s scent to locate them. But trailing is so much more… it is teamwork with both the dog and the handler working together. It creates an amazing bond and trust between the dog and the handler. It is one of the few dog sports where the dog is in control by utilizing its amazing olfactory abilities to find scent and follow it while the handler follows and learns to read the dog’s body language.

Trailing can be enjoyed by dogs of all breeds and skill levels. It provides both mental and physical stimulation for dogs, and builds confidence and focus.

Trailing Level 1

This is the foundations of trailing and will teach the dogs to use all methods of finding human odor on a trail. The dogs will learn scent discrimination and how to follow scent to find the person at the end of the trail.

Space is reserved for 4 dogs per instructor.
Classes are available in Burnaby South.

Trailing Level 2

Level 2 continues with putting previous components together to create more complex trails. The handlers will focus on reading their dogs and understanding what is happening with the scent on the trail.

This course consists of 5 classes, 3 hours each.

Advanced Trailing Classes – Continued Learning

These classes are offered on a drop-in basis, and trails will be tailored to each dog and handler team. This will allow the team to develop at their own pace and skill level. Fun new “novelties” will be added to the trails.

These classes will be held in areas around the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.
